Tänään esittelen muutaman jo vähän aikaa sitten tai vastikään valmistuneen projektin. Näistä haastavin ja aikaavievin oli ehdottomasti Haaksirikko- eli Shipwreck-huivi, jota jo kauan olen himoinnut ja nyt sen sain vihdoin pudotettua puikoilta. Tein sitä alle kaksi viikkoa, mikä on melko nopea projekti itselleni sen kokoluokkaan verrattuna. Muita ovat hieman puikoilla viipyneet sukat sekä nopea ompeluprojekti Läpäkkö eli lepakkopehmolelu.

Today I'dd display some already a while ago and very recently finished projects. The most challenging and time consuming of these was definitely the Shipwreck shawl which I've already a while drooled and finally now it fell off the needles. I knitted it for less than two weeks which for me for a project in this scale is very fast. The other projects are socks that spent a bit too much time on the needles and also a quick sewing project Bätty aka a stuffed animal bat.
Läpäkkö meni ystäväpariskunnan vauvalle lahjaksi. Siitä tuli ihan hauskannäköinen ja kuulemma myös käyttökelpoinen, sillä pikkuvauva tykkää katsella yksinkertaisen näköisiä otuksia ja toisaalta lepakkoa voi käyttää myös tyynynä.

The Bätty went to a friend couples' baby as a present. It ended up looking quite funny and apparently also useable since small babies like watshing simple looking things and on the other hand the bat can be used as a pillow.
Sukat valmistuivat hiukan aikaa sitten ja niistä tuli ihan hyvät, vaikka villasukkakelit alkavatkin olla ainakin hetkeksi jo ohitse. Nämä olivat ensimmäiset varpaista aloitettavat sukkani ja myös ensimmäiset, joissa oli näin paljon kuviointia. Lankana käytin purppuranväristä Regia hand-dye effectiä. Ohje oli Wendy D. The socks I finished a bit back and they turned out quite good even though soon I won't be needing woolly socks in a while. They were my first toe up socks ever and also first ones with this much of a pattern. The yarn I used was Regia hand-dye effect in purple. The pattern was A Finer Peace by Wendy D. Johnson. Ja sitten suurempaan projektiini eli Haaksirikko lätäkössä -huiviin, joka on samasta Regia-langasta kuin sukatkin, mutta sinisestä versiosta. Haaksirikon ohje löytyy Knittystä ja omasta Ravelry-sivustani löytyy enemmän tietoa myös omasta projektistani. Huivi on halkaisijaltaan n. 160 cm ja siinä on ehkä n. 1500 vaaleansinistä helmeä, jotka näyttävät vesipisaroilta kimallellessaan huivissa ja tuntuessaan viileältä iholla. Langan värin vaihtelu saa aikaan ikään kuin veden ympyrämäiset kehät, kun siihen pudotetaan kivi. Tästä huivini saikin nimensä. Antaa kuvien kertoa loput.

And then to my larger project, Shiwreck in a Puddle shawl which is made from the same Regia yarn as the socks, except in blue. The Shipwreck pattern can be found from Knitty and my own Ravelry site has more infromation also about my own project. The shawl is about 160 cm in diameter and it has about 1500 light blue beads that look like water droplets glimmering on the shawl and they feel cool on the skin. The change in the yarn color makes a rippling water effect as if a stone had been dropped in the water. This is also where my version of the shawl got its name. I'll let the pictures tell the rest.
